Our first lamb of the season was born on March 13. Rainbow Apple Mac, a strapping young ram, born to Massena's Gretta and Wind River Cobra. Mac is so irresistible, he has already been reserved as part of a new "Starter Flock," and will be headed to his new home in Dallas, OR once he has reached weaning age.
Mac, Fuji, Sequel and Killdeer are all now spoken for; but as new lambs arrive and the gender distribution is determined, more sheep should become available for sale. We do not have any room to keep more sheep than we have now, so for every lamb born here this year at least one will have to be sold. In some cases we may sell the lambs, and in other cases the mothers.
If you are interested in any of our lambs or adult ewes, now would be a good time to contact us! We probably won't have enough genetic diversity left to make up any more complete starter flocks this year, but if you want a starter flock we can help you put together a package with lambs from our farm as well as lambs from other farms.
I suspect Piper will be the next to lamb (tomorrow is the 150th day after she was bred), with Crystal following closely behind.
In other lambing news, Gazelle, who is taking a spa vacation at Wind River Farm, had twins on Wednesday! Congratulations Gazelle (and Carol!)!!
